Hygienic & sustainable construction
A symbiosis between
animals, humans and nature

Mare and foal in the paddock
In summer, soil conditions are usually dry and unproblematic. But as soon as autumn and winter arrive, bringing with them days of non-stop rain, many open stables unfortunately turn into real "mudholes". Keeping horses in and removing manure from such muddy and dirty paddock areas is highly questionable and tedious.

It is our responsibility to provide animals with clean and dry areas where they can move about naturally and feel comfortable. Mud – combined with urine and manure – is the perfect breeding ground for bacteria. The result is thrush and mallenders. Such living conditions are a far cry from natural, holistic and hygienic horse husbandry.

Because nature does not need us – WE need NATURE.

We strive towards a sustainable future filled with opportunities, where animals, humans and nature live in symbiosis.

  • Robust and durable recycled material
  • Flexible surface refurbishment
  • Long-term joint protection thanks to shock-absorbing elastic wood layer

TTE® MultidrainPLUS
A solid solution

TTE® Paddock grids are linked horizontally and vertically with the aid of solid pins. It is NOT possible to break off individual paddock plates. In addition, the 2:1 format and total weight of 27 kg/m² in combination with the intelligent connection system create a “snowshoe effect” with a high load capacity. This enables load distribution over a wide area, allowing paddocks to be built easily and made level without a substructure.

A comfortable oasis made of sand OR a clean paved area?
To minimise the risk of sand colic and reduce the wastage of hay, a hard paved surface is often installed. Depending on the ground it is installed on, this may require a suitable substructure.
In conventional construction, the design of different surfaces requires a combination of different and costly construction principles.

Depending on the specific application, various requirements need to be met. The horses should be able to roll around and lie in the sun. But the hayracks should be fixed in place in a clean and dry manner, and without any risk of colic.

TTE® Paddock –

Built to be dry, simple and durable
TTE® is laid quickly and cost-effectively - often without a substructure
1. Remove turf and create a level surface
Evenness of horse walker surface – topsoil, NO substructure – improves seepage characteristics
2. Apply and level an approx. 5 cm fine gravel layer
Drainage layer – creates even surface – separates the wood chip layer from soil life
3. Lay fine mesh
Laying aid – faster sliding of plates – no wedged-in material
4. Lay TTE® plates
TOTAL – TRAFFIC – EXOPAVE
5. Chamber filling of choice
TTE® Paving Stone GRIP – TTE® softPAVE – sand – wood chips – sand/wood mixture
6. Where required, an approx. 5 cm thick surface course made of wood chips, sand or both
Comfortable to lie on – to roll on – slip-proof

Shock-absorbent paddock –
no substructure, simple and flexible

Conventional surface reinforcement for horse paddocks makes use of a classic hard substructure. This results not only in high costs, but also in an enormous amount of work, which requires expertise and construction machinery. Furthermore, horseowners – due to the significant changes to existing areas – often face difficulties when attempting to obtain approval from the authorities for these measures.
In the case of leased land, the implementation can be even more difficult, or even impossible.

TTE® surface reinforcement protects the natural soil conditions thanks to the intelligent load-distributing TTE® element. The unique solid – both horizontal and vertical – connections of the TTE® system allow for installation on any soft surface.
The paddock plates lie on the approx. 5 to 7 cm thick elastic wood layer – akin to a raft floating on water. This makes approval easier, as no foreign materials such as gravel are introduced. Because there is always moisture under the “raft”, little oxygen circulation, and no crushing action by the horses’ hooves, the decomposition of the debarked wood chips takes place very slowly.
The simple TTE® concept ensures rapid, cost-effective implementation and offers a unique level of flexibility for design and restructuring. The filling and footing layers can be chosen as desired. Be it wood chips, sand or a mixture of both – it is entirely up to you and your preferences.

Our exceptional TTE® elastic wood chip structure not only simplifies the construction project for you, but also provides a dry and hygienic surface that is easy on the joints for happy and healthy horses.

TTE® Paddocks without substructure and with springy properties
1. Remove turf and create a level surface
Evenness of horse walker surface – topsoil, NO substructure – improves seepage characteristics
2. Apply and level an approx. 5 to 7 cm fine wood chip layer
Easy on horses’ joints – drainage layer – decomposition of manure
3. Lay fine mesh
Laying aid – faster sliding of plates – no wedged-in material
4. Lay TTE® plates
TOTAL – TRAFFIC – EXOPAVE
5. Fill TTE® chambers with wood chips
High permeability to water due to large volume of pores – decomposition of manure and ammonia – wood chips store moisture
6. Approx. 5 cm thick surface course made of wood chips, sand or both
Comfortable to lie on – to roll on – slip-proof

Soil and groundwater protection –
a holistic approach

Muddy, unhygienic paddocks are a health risk for horses.
Soil protection and horse husbandry – an illusion?

In horse husbandry, soil conservation means protecting natural areas from being destroyed, such as preventing soil compaction and preserving active soil life wherever possible. With a load-distributing TTE® element, we can realistically protect and even enhance biodiversity, groundwater and the exceptional functions of the soil.

HÜBNER-LEE makes ecological surface reinforcement possible – without soil sealing.
The natural balance remains intact because the humus layer – also called the living soil zone – is not removed. One other key positive consequence of this is the protection of groundwater.
The permeable on-top construction principle and the preservation of the topsoil can be a decisive advantage for obtaining a construction permit.

With the unique elastic wood layer under the TTE® system, the filtering function and the trapping of incoming pollutants is also greatly improved. In addition to preserving the humus layer, the wood chips also nitrify the soil, for example with ammonia, and enormously boost biodiversity in the soil.

The TTE® concept promotes our natural cycles and natural soil protection.
